DD-WRT On a WRT54G V5.1 :)

Just happily managed to get the VxWorks crap off my WRT54G V5.1 and replace it witrh the Linux based DD-WRT build, working flawlessly, and for the first time ever i get over 4000kbps over wireless Which is superb, everything seems to respond quicker and pages seem to load faster.

The interface is fantastic and Radius restriction is now a viable option!

I'm running DD-WRT Micro Generic V23 SP2

Here's how it can be done (without hardware modification) - http://www.bitsum.com/openwiking/owb...?WRT54G5%5FCFE

8) LOL
what on earth do you mean 'VxWorks crap' its good enough for the NTL:tw Execs and their wonderful STB with its wonderful Liberate middleware GUI ......!

makes you wonder how much better the STB's would perform if NTL put QNX RTP or even linux on the stb boxs doesnt it.

Our vxWorks 5.3 (Tornado 1) systems have a buggy network driver. This might result in poor NFS performance. You might try this test:
> timex copy </work/bench/big10 >/nulltimex: time of execution = 10683 +/- 16 (0%) millisecsvalue = 55 = 0x37 = '7'If the time is longer than about 5 to 7 seconds, there is a problem. Each transmission error adds 5 seconds to the execution time. In this case and if the vxWorks system has heavy network traffic, the port of connected network switch should be changed to half-duplex mode and the vxWorks system should be rebooted.

I think you proved my point there

All i can say is i'm loving this added speed bonus, and the extra feature or three that i've found so far. Oh, and the better and sexier looking layout over the Linksys web management pages. I may even fork over the 20Euros for bandwidth control, cos lord knows i need it!
