Post Router advice

Hi, I've been reading and searching for some information but I'm getting more confused, I'm hoping somone can point me in the right direction or give me some streight advice.

I'm planning on upgrading to the XXL package for 50m internet and I'm pretty sure that means my Linksys SR41 router will need to be replaces.
Currently I'm running 6 wired connections, and am using a switch, but I realy dislike it so I was hoping to find a router that is wired (I dont need wireless and I'm a little paranoid about it) and has 6 ports that will work with the new VM package.

I'm also curious if I would recieve a new modem, I got one when I first started with Blueyonder and last year after I complained about connection speeds I was told that I should have recived an upgraded modem a long time ago and was sent out a Schintific Atlanta modem the next day. I dont want to fall into the same situation where I end up not getting the best perfomance from the connection because of the wrong hardware.

Any help and advice is most welcomed , thanks.
