The new HDMI slingboxes still don't have HDCP though so neither the TiVo or Samsung V+ will work in HD.

True. Personally I am not too bothered about HD, because normally wherever I use the slingbox remotely I am constrained by the bandwidth available, plus for the device sizes I use (either iPhone or 10" tablet) HD resolutions are not that important (would be a different case if I were watching on an HD TV).

But from what I've read of the US Tivo Stream it has no restrictions on placeshifting live TV or recordings. Of course what Virgin would choose to allow if they do offer it we don't know yet.

I'm currently trying to decide what to do for placeshifting for an extended stay outside the country. My Slingbox Pro has been good enough for now but the older models use Windows Media codecs rather than H.264 and it will only connect to my V-HD box using composite video although they should both be able to do component. The new Slingbox 500 would be good if it didn't have the HDCP limitation. Maybe a VPN account and iPlayer / Virgin Anywhere will suffice.

.
In an article I was reading yesterday on the stream, it said that content from HBO and another similar content provider was excluded, so there are some restrictions.

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app

I see the new TV advert for the Sky App, says that you can do even more with it!

I wonder how much longer V/M are going to wait before bringing out their App , as Sky seem to be way ahead of the game!

I'll be able to give some insights into the apps on the 9th of October.

It's IE9 I'm using. Doesn't work on Chrome either, I don't use Firefox.
