Can`t enable java 2. Help needed
Ok, i`ve downloaded java 2 etc, but i can`t seem to enable it. I`m running xp home and ie6. Ideas please, pretty please.

How do you mean enable it? Do you mean the applet viewer plugin for IE6?

I guess that`s what i mean, sorry ,bit ignorant on these things sometime. Looking in the add/remove programes menu i have it in there, but when trying to view stuff that needs the applet all i keep getting is "your browser doesnt java" in the help section options/advanced.scroll down and i cant see a java check box.

It's alright, it's just that people forget Java does more than just applets

I wouldn't know for sure since I don't have much experience of XP, but could this be something to do with you installing Java on one user account so it doesn't register in the others? You could try installing as the root user?

Have you got an example of a website which needs Java enabled?
Are you sure that you're not confusing it with Javascript which is totally different?

EDIT: Try this page, do you see the scroller?

Hmm strange, try going into your Windows Control Panel and double click on the Java icon. (You may need to switch to Classic View)
Go to the browser tab and make IE is ticked.
Check all the other options also.

No java icon in the control panel?

Try downloading and installing it again, after uninstalling from Add/Remove programs.
