UKIP MEP Godfrey Bloom 'has regret' over 'Bongo Bongo' phrase
A UK Independence Party politician has said he "sincerely regrets" causing any offence when he referred to countries receiving government aid as "Bongo Bongo Land".
MEP Godfrey Bloom, who was recorded using the phrase, said he had "subsequently" realised it could be interpreted as "pejorative".
Earlier he stood by the remarks, saying they had highlighted the aid issue.
UKIP leader Nigel Farage said he was "pleased" Mr Bloom had "apologised".
|
So....
Was he pleased, and did he apologise?
Or was he just "pleased" he "apologised"?

... in other words, he stands by what he said but recognises other people may not like it and regrets that.

If you're taking your own locale as your sample, you might very well arrive at such a conclusion. Politically, Brighton is hardly representative of the UK.

No wishy washy Tory ever managed to make James Naughtie choke on his ethically-sourced fairtrade Java. Listen to the Today audio if you haven't already, it's priceless.

The way in which he is back-pedalling sounds very wishy-washy, particularly given his earlier comments. Very Gay

Quite. I did notice and read your post.
On reflection I should have said "Many" instead of "Everyone".

Wonder if it ever occurred to Mr bloom why Pakistan needs the planes, we want them to fight the war on terror for us and pay the price in blood it's only fair we should contribute in cash, the mans an idiot or hasn't bothered to look into it, favouring instead some childish political point scoring, it's almost as pathetic as the professional politicians we're forced to put up with from the main parties.

Pakistan don't seem to be united. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing...

Seriously?
The Pakistani military doesn't deploy fixed-wing fast jets against the Taliban. Actually it doesn't deploy much of anything against the Taliban, it prefers to do nothing at all unless its arm is up its back. I suppose you think they didn't know Osama Bin Laden was camping round the corner from their officer training school.
Pakistan wants F-18s because it is locked in a thermonuclear p*ing contest with India.
