Housekeeping causes recording failures?
Got home, switched on and went to watch recording of this afternoons premiership rugby.
Well not impressed - recording started at 2:30 and lasted 2 mins 2 seconds
What the f**k has happened?
Checked upstairs box this managed more but only 13 mins odd!
I think the downstairs box did a housekeeping check just after 2:30, surely it shouldn't do this when the box is recording?
Checked other recordings on at this time - all have been chopped around 2:32.
If this is as expected how do I force this housekeeping to happen at say 3:00am when nothing is recording?
To say I am not happy is an understatement!
No, there wasn't a power problem - sky box on same extension performed flawlessly through this period.
Any help would be appreciated.

Having checked later recordings, it would appear there was some sort of problem which prevented recordings between 14:32 and approx 21:45/22:00 ish.
Can anyone confirm this was the case?
Why has this happened?
Why is the service so flaky?
Have I made a big mistake switching from sky?

Was the box in standby during the periods it didn't record? If so, it could be the bug whereby the device doesn't record whilst in Standby. It wastes power, but I now leave mine on 24/7.
I haven't yet been able to test if the latest software update has resolved this or not.

Re: Housekeeping causes recording failures?
Yes V6
Boxes are always on - never in standby.
From what I was told on phone yesterday the problem seems to be the router which won't reboot properly.
Lack of sky & Bt channels attributed to lack of broadband by virgin.
My main beef is being put off all day yesterday on phone, then to be told earliest appt for a technical visit is Friday!

Yes that's really poor from VM mate, and i'm seeing more and more bugs with the V6, so as I have said previously i'm going to wait until it's more stable before getting one.

But Max, this is a router problem, not a V6 issue.

OB - you are probably correct, however we will not know for certain until Friday's visit.
On sky the channels one subscribe to are held on the viewing card. I haven't seen a viewing card on V6 so assume it uses broadband connection to make this decision?

Re: Housekeeping causes recording failures?
It uses a virtual viewing card.
