Hanagan avoids serious injury

Paul Hanagan will return to action later in the week after escaping serious injury in a fall at Royal Ascot on Saturday.

The rider suffered a nasty tumble after his mount Ektihaam slipped on the bend in the Hardwicke Stakes and went for X-rays on his upper arm following his fall, but his agent Richard Hale reports there to be no serious damage.

He said: "There's no breakages, he's just very stiff and sore. He'll take a couple of days off now and come back on Wednesday or Thursday."

French superstar Cirrus Des Aigles came home a well-beaten fifth as Ryan Moore grabbed Group One glory aboard Novellist in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

Cirrus Des Aigles was making his first appearance since chasing home the brilliant Frankel in the Champion Stakes last October and travelled smartly towards the head of affairs under Olivier Peslier, but Moore ranged up to challenge on Novellist at the top of the home straight and it was soon evident the German runner had won the argument.

Lark's wings clipped in France.

The Lark could finish only fifth as Pacific Rim took the honours in the Abu Dhabi Prix de Malleret at Saint-Cloud.

A fine third in the Investec Oaks at Epsom at the end of May, Michael Bell's filly was due to run in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot on Thursday, but was withdrawn on account of the drying conditions and was instead sent to France for this Group Two.

Eclipse next stop for Al Kazeem

Al Kazeem is to run in the Coral-Eclipse on his next start and not the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes, trainer Roger Charlton said.

The five-year-old has won four on the bounce, with the last two coming in Group One company, most recently in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at the Royal meeting last week.

He had been thought likely to contest the mid-summer championship back at Ascot next month before being aimed at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, but while Longchamp remains his ultimate aim, the Dubawi entire will take a different route to Paris, starting at Sandown on July 6

The Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood is next on the agenda for Just The Judge after she was firmly put in her place by Sky Lantern in the Coronation Stakes.

Sky Lantern emerged as a narrow winner when the pair met for the first time in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, but with Just The Judge running out an impressive winner of the Irish Guineas subsequently, many expected her to turn the tables at Royal Ascot.

Patrick Prendergast was pleased with how Sugar Boy handled the ground at the Curragh on Monday morning as his Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby candidate worked at the racecourse.

The Authorized colt has not run since winning the Sandown Classic Trial in April, where Galileo Rock and Libertarian, both placed at Epsom, were behind him in third and fourth respectively.

Prendergast, whose charge was second to Battle Of Marengo in the Ballysax Stakes prior to Sandown, has specifically waited for the Curragh Classic, mainly in the hope of the track suiting him better than Epsom, and also for the chance of softer ground.

Lethal Force has been given an entry in the Nunthorpe Stakes following his convincing victory in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Clive Cox feels he has to give York's five-furlong dash in August consideration after Lethal Force showed great speed throughout Saturday's Group One.

Eddie Lynam's two star sprinters Sole Power and Slade Power are set to clash in the Darley July Cup at Newmarket.

Proven top-class performer Sole Power secured a well deserved Group One haul in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot a week ago, his second victory at the highest level following his shock 100-1 win in the 2010 Nunthorpe at York.

Slade Power, two years younger than his stable companion, made his Group One debut in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and while he came up short, he was far from disgraced in finishing seventh.

Dawn Approach has been given the option of stepping back up in trip for the Juddmonte International at York on August 21.

Jim Bolger's brilliant miler added last week's St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot to his Qipco 2000 Guineas triumph at Newmarket as he bounced back from the ignominy of an unbelievably poor run in the Investec Derby.

The colt, who wears the Godolphin blue, is among 35 entries for the Group One over an extended mile and a quarter, won last year by Frankel.

A highly-quality entry includes Toronado, who was just touched off by Dawn Approach at Ascot, Derby hero Ruler Of The World, Al Kazeem, St Nicholas Abbey and Snow Fairy.

Ralph Beckett is still mulling the options for Investec Oaks second Secret Gesture.

The daughter of Galileo finished three and three-quarter lengths adrift of fellow Beckett inmate Talent at Epsom, despite being sent off much the shorter priced of the pair.

Talent is firmly on course to bid for a Classic double in the Darley Irish Oaks on July 20 but while Secret Gesture is also entered for that race, Beckett is not sure if she will line up at the Curragh.

Ruler Of The World will face eight rivals as he bids for a Classic double in Saturday's Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh.

Aidan O'Brien's colt won the Derby at Epsom on just his third start, having been unraced as a juvenile, and will clash again with the placed runners from that day.

Epsom second Libertarian will have his final start for Elaine Burke after being bought by Godolphin, while David Wachman's Galileo Rock will try to improve on his third place.

Elusive Kate is poised to take her chance in the Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes following her fine return to the track at Royal Ascot.

The John Gosden-trained filly finished a pleasing fourth in the Queen Anne Stakes on her first start since last October.

Although the Prix Rothschild at Deauville could be an option, she appears more likely to run in the Falmouth at Newmarket on July 12.

The daughter of Elusive Quality finished a half-length second behind Giofra in last year's renewal of the Group One at Headquarters.

Libertarian renews rivalry with his Investec Derby conqueror Ruler Of The World in the Dubai Duty Free-sponsored Irish version at the Curragh on Saturday evening.

A shock winner of the Dante Stakes at York, the three-year-old proved that was no fluke with a fantastic effort at Epsom and he emerged with extra credit given he did not appear to handle the undulating track.

He has since been snapped up by Godolphin and is set to make his final start for North Yorkshire trainer Elaine Burke this weekend.

Joseph O'Brien is confident Ruler Of The World can maintain his unbeaten record and hand father Aidan a remarkable 11th Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.

Ruler Of The World, ridden by Ryan Moore at Epsom, bids to follow in their hoofprints, with the trainer's son getting back on board for the first time since he won his maiden at the track in April.
