Should my cable junction box look like this?

We are in the process of redecorating our living room and we pulled the TV unit away from the corner to access the area where our VM junction box is. We had a TIVO box replaced last year and recall the guy saying it was hard to get it all back together again, but didn't realise it was in quite the mess it is. Are we supposed to accept this as an adequate installation or should we get someone back to install a larger box for all the stuff that obviously doesn't fit inside

Re: Should my cable junction box look like this?

The isolator (black cable in from outside, white cable out) should be entirely contained in the white box. The splitter (one cable in, two cables out) is often just left in-line or can be mounted on a skirting board or the wall using the screw holes. There's also a white snap-on cover for it.

Yours could do with some tidying up.

Re: Should my cable junction box look like this?

The only part that is to be in the cover is the large silver rectangle, the rest is ment to be outside the box

Re: Should my cable junction box look like this?

I phoned VM and they sent out an engineer this morning who replaced the tiny box with a much larger one, so it's all nice and tidy now. Why the previous engineer left it in such a mess I really don't know
