Correct, and in fact Virgin have player. Whilst Sky Go allows customers access to some of it's channel line up, Virgin player allows access to some of it's on demand library, so whilst they're different products they very much play to the individual strengths of the companies providing them.

As it happens, non-Sky customers can buy monthly passes to Sky Go, and it includes the sports and movies channels as well as Sky Atlantic, so a possible work around for cable customers who want Atlantic would be to cancel their premium services through Virgin and buy them directly from Sky.
Sky Go online offers OD content and Movies OD is included on the iOS devices , you are right though I'm sure VM are working hard to have this service available on a multitude of devices.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2012) Vol. 1

Its no good VM complaining to Ofcom about Sky, Sky are running a business and it is up to VM to get the best value for its customers - But as l have said before VM want it on the cheap.

Other companies have agreed prices with Sky over channels and HD channels, so why can't VM.

I can fully understand why members are angry that they are not getting channels they want on the system, but customers don't want increases in subs, so they cannot complain.

I have said before, l have no problems of an increase in subs, if the channels on VM increased ie in a package of say 10 and not +1 channels.

VM have said they will bring the best entertainment channels to there customers - but all we hear is ' we are in talks', its like a member stated recently that he has been away, and now he is back, nothing has changed.

VM have to fight Sky and get the best for there customers, if l was running VM l would certainly be doing that as it will reap the rewards in the end.

Dave don't forget the other side , VM make a lot of money through having the Sky channels how many would subscribe if there were no Sky Sports/Movies. Sky are entitled to have platform exclusives in much the same way VM did with Living HD and Film4 HD.

What do you make of this

"We want to concentrate on being the customer's agent and we will source our content from a broad array," he said. "Our pay-TV business is not a high margin business for us. We make our money through Tivo or the best superfast broadband. We are set up for an open world."

I think you could probably interpret today's figures as evidence that Virgin really aren't missing out by not having Sky Atlantic. And I know there are plenty of other channels people would like, but I think realistically most people consider this one channel to be the actual difference.

Arthur I think there are two elements to VM's position, one the can do something about & one they can't, & it's the latter I was posting about:

1st Part - Can do something about - channels like ITV HD's ESPN America HD & Premier Sports. Bottom line - sort these (Please!)

2nd Part - Can do nothing about - Sky channels that they can't get access to (I'd argue here in some cases not even at any price ) I'll bet if a company other than Sky owned those channels, they'd be on Sky & VM!

Out of those events, only the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup are listed. Six Nations rugby and Wimbledon, apart from the finals, are not although highlights of both must be available on free-to-air.
Sky will soon pinch all live rights bar the Olympics and FIFA World cup!

I definately would not mind paying a extra sub for its return,it was so anarchic it was good,i really do think VM should bring back the cable only channel Live TV.
