Tivo move question

We have Tivo in the bedroom. It rarely gets used, so we'd like to move it.
Downstairs we have a splitter where the cable comes in for the modem. The splitter here is marked TV/Data on one socket and FM on the other.
Is it possible to buy a splitter so that both are TV/Data, or do I need to get in touch with Virgin ?
Just looking for the cheapest option.

Thanks.

Re: Tivo move question

Just found my old cable modem box.
Inside a splitter marked -3.5dB on both connectors, and another marked Set Top Box on one and Cable Modem on the other.
Something to play with.
Loads of extra cables in there as well. I'll have a go this afternoon.

Re: Tivo move question

As long as you use the splitter & the cables VM provided, you should be OK. Just don't go using anything else, as it will most likely not be the correct spec & may cause problems.

Thanks for that.
Used the one marked TV and Cable and Tivo is up and running. No problem with the internet either. I'm happy.

This is actually called a diplexer and was used on the old analog system to provide FM radio stations to a tuner. Frequencies in the range 88 to 108MHz are routed to the FM socket. All others to TV/DATA. It also provides the isolator function so should stay in place at the point the cable enters your property. Just use the TV/Data socket. The other can be ignored.

As you've correctly surmised the true splitter and the existing cables can be mix and match.
