So two of the largest broadcasting companies in the world would effectively hold the rights to a sporting championship with a global audience of about 500m people?
Could that be allowed?

The Sunday Times Final bids in the auction for the Six Nations were tabled last week, and it is understood that Sky submitted the highest offer. But it was not substantially higher than the BBC’s, industry sources said. In the absence of a knock-out blow, it is expected that rugby bosses will opt to renew their deal with the BBC. An announcement could come this week.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
At last some common sense in seeing the wider benefits of sport being seen by a greater audience.

My reading of The Sunday Times article which broke this story is that they are not joint bids "BROADCASTING giant Sky and John Malone’s Liberty Global are weighing offers for a £4.5bn controlling stake in Formula One, gatecrashing the plans of a Qatari-backed consortium to take control of the sport."

Since we are customers of Liberty global can we ask them not to? And instead to use that 2.25bn on BT sport Europe and Sky Atlantic? Let sky waste their money on formula one whilst Liberty spends their money more wisely...

You can certainly ask, yes. I don't think either company will acquire Formula 1, it will be bought by interests like Quatar who have bigger objectives than TV channels.
BT Sport Europe is coming to Virgin in August.
Unsure as to the strategic benefits of Liberty buying TV3, I guess maybe it can sell some of its content outside Ireland. Malone is a bit of an opportunist so maybe he saw a bargain!

I doubt the viewing figures for the Champions League final and the British Grand Prix will have been substantially different.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
BBC and ITV form alliance to keep Six Nations away from Sky.
