Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app

Just proves how incompetent VM are with contract negotiation, they are letting Tivo walk all over them. It is not hard to change the UI to red.

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app

Not all of the UI was changed... for example, there's a legacy blue TiVo US menu when pressing Info on a YouTube video if you're using the old version of the app.

Plus, we're on 15.2 at the moment when even the newest US TiVo, the four-tuner 2TB Premiere Elite, is on 14.9. We're getting something they're not. I'm happy with that!

That is just a bizarre how do you its Tivo walking over VM? Could it be that VM have asked for some heavy customisation or they have run into problems?

Well why wouldn't you release the app with the current features offered in the US and then build on that? The US app was released a year ago around the same time that the VM tivo starting going out. So they have had a year to iron out these issues, but they are completely reliant on Tivo to fix these things and we have all seen how long it has taken them to get the 15.2 update out the door.

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app

In software development time a year is a very short time there could be a multitude of reasons why it is being delayed, Tivo walking all over VM would be at the bottom of my list of excuses.

Apparently not! Somebody on one of the forums reported that they had somehow managed to download it and it did not work on the VM TiVo.

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app

I think it's because the US app needs a 'TiVo account' which you can't get as a VM customer

When the UK app launches you'll likely log into it using your My VM details

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app

Do you know if the hugely disappointing next year date mentioned on the VM communities forum is correct Ben?

Yes, unfortunately it is. Mark wouldn't have said it unless it was confirmed

You don't even get that far it must be using Bunjour as you don't get to enter any details, VM Tivo must be configured differently from the US one networking wise as it simply says it couldn't find a DVR.

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app

Hmm not so sure on that as if the Android app works (which is designed to work with the US ones) then the right bits must be switched on?

I suppose I already knew that... Just clinging onto the slim chance that Mark had got his wires crossed.

Disappointed at the delay. This was top of my ever changing list of new gadgets to play with..... Now I guess I'll have to find something else to look forward to in thenext few weeks.
