3) The name of the new app that is set to launch on TiVo.

Lets hope its worth it.

Agreed - good points, Old Boy.
We know that 1) and 2) are coming Winter 2016/17 so no need to get excited right now.
DNP 3) is the one that intrigues me but it's likely to be something like TED.

I think the original TiVo should then lose the fee for the box and transfer it to a new box because we could then look at nearly £10 a month per box bit expensive

I see little to excite in the article, OB. The Liberty Global era has been underwhelming so far, a shocking series of inflation-busting price increases with so little return for the loyal customers.
Virgin has ignored the TV side of its business and it is now outclassed in my living room by a tiny white box I picked up for a tenner and a service that costs me around the same each month as I'd pay for a pint. It's laughable. The news that the Virgin Media TiVo will not be replaced this year is disappointing but typical of a company that has focussed solely on broadband and ignored the TV service and doesn't appear to be in any great hurry to sort it out.

Hi I totally agree it's as I said they seem to focus on the broadband side and seem strangly and worryingly unfazed by sky q

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
Is it really such a life changing event whether the new TiVo comes out in the summer, or in January 2017, or some other time or never? It is only a TV box! Let's keep things in perspective.

In fairness, Sky Q is a top end offering, it's not an offering for the masses. The current Sky+ boxes will continue to remain Sky's mainstream offering.

When VM launches its new Tivo offering, Sky+HD will still be Sky's mainstream offering. The situation might change after that but I think no one including Sky knows for sure.

Media Boy. Can we expect any top revelations on Monday at 4pm or is it really just a new thread? (I'm not including Sky renaming its channels temporarily or a local TV channel launching both of which do it for a lot of people but not really me.)

If they don't want information to be released, then why send it to Media Boy in the first place? Sounds perverse to me. What is to stop MB leaking it anyway?

So we now have the choice of believing your statement or the Telegraph article quoting one of Virgin Media's top people.
Personally, I would say it is most likely coming at the turn of the year. Unless, of course, the new Tivo is to be trialled from the summer... That could account for the discrepancy.
|
As someone who gets given information including DNP information i can assure you that me nor MB would leak any info that is under a DNP, the simple reason being our sources give us info on a trust bases and we would never betray that trust.

But if the new VM Tivo is based on the promised new, 2016, US Tivo, which hasn't yet been announced, VM have no choice but to wait. Otherwise, it would have to be based on the current Bolt.
No one can be certain that it will be based on the forthcoming 2016 US Tivo, but it would make a lot of sense to do so, especially if they are looking for a Sky Q beater.
