Linksys WRT54GS V.6 + DC++
Hi,
How can I get my router to allow me to do a search on DC++. When my router is not connected i can search but when its connected i cant, its the same with limewire and kazzaa.
I know its to do with port forwarding but i have no idea what i am doing

Not bad for someone taking a computing course.
I suggest you read the manual.

I know IT architects with a lot of years experience who know nothing about routers. Often its a case of knowing the function a device performs and ignore the detail.

I hope they have at least heard of a search engine though

True but ignorance has never helped anyone to use a search engine

Re: Linksys WRT54GS V.6 + DC++
Dont know if you have solved this, but from memory, TCP & UDP ports to be set on the router under applications and gaming and the ip addy given to your pc by the router needs to be added, and you change from passive to active or is it active to passive in DC++ and add the port numbers you have allowcated on the router.
The above advice may be right, but due to needing a memory upgrade I could have forgotten just how to do it.
Also some hubs dont allow some types of search, cant remember whether its through active or passive though, dont use DC++ anymore usenet is my friend
