will not display on tv

i just got a vga cable to compasite cable and i have plugged it into the tv and nothing. i have pressed FN and F5 and nothing. i have gone to ATI control panel and it says no tv is connected! Help please

does your telly need tuning in to a different channel?
I am guessing you are trying to use the telly as another monitor?

yeah i put the tv on avf which i use when i connect compasite to it through the yellow hole. i am using tv as monitor yes

If going from VGA out on the lappy, to composite in, on the telly, won't it be one of the AV channels on the telly?

its a laptop and ati mobility radeon 9000igp. it says on the manual you can connect tv

Ive got an Ati igp chipset in my laptop admitingly not the same one but mine has svideo.Ive never seen a gfx set up that needs a dsub to composite before.It is the standard 15 pin blue dsub you mean?

If you want to use a tv out with ATI cards you usualy need to boot the machine with the composite video output connected and the tv on so the card can detect it.
