Firmware Change
I noticed today that my supper hub two has rebooted with a different firmware (V1.01.29), which i think is a older version?
Also a conciqence of this is that I have lost my third upstream channel that a gained a few weeks ago. I opted out of the virgin Media Wi-Fi scheme and wanted to know if this was linked?

Re: Firmware Change
It is an older firmware and is due to severe issues found with the newer firmware. Nothing to do with you opting out, everyone is in the same boat.

No and you almost certainly don't need it.

Re: Firmware Change
I can only go on my own experience but after gaining the third upstream channel Xbox live performance improved for me as it did when two upstream channels became available.
I did recently get round to updating the firmware on my Linksys EA4500 from the classic to the newest version as i learned how not to activate the cloud shenanigans! I will put the improvement down to that thanks.

Re: Firmware Change
The third upstream channel was added to support the Public WiFi and was thus withdrawn when the service flow was removed.

Re: Firmware Change
Is the public wifi ever gonna take place or has it been shelved?

Re: Firmware Change
Not that I've been formally told, but it'll roll out eventually. Too much publicity has passed for it to be permanently shelved. At least imo.

I did, I don't know whether it was just buggy firmware but my upstream regularly went up to 2MB/sec (16mbits) when I had 3 channels.

Re: Firmware Change
Damn, mon General. I just didn't think to test upstream speed when I had 3 (sometimes 4) channels. I did notice from the stats that the symbol rate stayed the same and I remained on 16QAM.

tbh I didn't look at the symbol rate, I did however post a couple of screen dumps at the time showing the 3 channels and one of them being qam64. I'll see if I can dig them out.
Edit: here you go, me and Kush are towards the bottom.

I also posted a screen dump from my desk showing my torrent client overlay of the upload speed as well (half way down)

Re: Firmware Change
Did you keep the operational config? Because you can still get 20 meg if that's what you're set up for at 16QAM and just about on a single channel.

Re: Firmware Change
What was the modem mode issue with the newer firmware anyway? I never noticed any issues.

On SH2 v2.01.03 firmware, modem mode users with certain routers that used the Broadcast flag (you can Google that!) but didn't allow a choice of Broadcast flag found itself on the wrong side of what would be accepted as a request to be connected. I.e. they couldn't get a WAN IP address.
