New Budget in July
http://www.cityam.com/215850/chancel...-budget-8-july
Makes sense. If anything I would prefer we start scrapping the April budget before the election and move it to July. The current system means that without such 'emergency' budgets a newly elected Government loses most of their first year in office on the previous Goverment's budget.

Re: New Budget in July
I'm not sure that's as easy to do as it is to say. Government budgets are extremely complex and they require a great degree of organisation at departmental level in order to keep on top of things. It's likely that the systems and routines that are in place, essentially require there to be an end and a beginning each April, in order to keep functioning. There is also the minor inconvenience that as you go beyond April, the money allocated in the previous budget has run out, and someone has to authorise further handouts ... a set of decisions which are, in effect, an emergency budget.

Re: New Budget in July
I am very much looking forward to this actually. It will give people more evidence of just how much influence the Lib Dems were having in coalition.

Re: New Budget in July
Well, for the past 7 years savers have taken a massive hit; it's time others bit the bullet.
The benefits cap per household has to drop (it already exceeds the salary of many working people), child benefit has to be reformed (a big family is irresponsible), jobseeker's allowance should be chopped (the incentive to actually get a job will increase) and working tax credits (which discourage personal in-work improvement) should be reviewed.
Then there's all those DLA claimants who swing the lead and buy more expensive cars than they need and the country can afford with their 'motobility allowance' or whatever you call it.
It's a messy job but it has to be done.

Wow that's a incredible generalization to make of nearly all DLA claimants but sadly one which too many believe it seems.

I see the propaganda has taken hold with another person.
May you never need to avail yourself of DLA, PIP or whatever it is at that time.

Re: New Budget in July
IMHO One of the problems with the benefits cap is the blanket exemption from it if there is a family member receiving any sort of disability benefits. By all means disregard any disability benefits from the cap amount, but a blanket exemption makes a nonsense of the purpose of the cap. Type of disability and which family member should also come into it. Although type of disability might be difficult to legally define.
