I am running a DIR-615 w/dd-wrt build #18007. No problems pinging from TBB. Here's my graph:

I have "Block Anonymous WAN Requests (ping)" un-ticked ... I can check other settings if you wish?

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

some of those dd wrt builds over buffer packets. i had that build and got rid because of that issue. test VM's 615 build or the d link builds and compare it to that dd wrt build within your ping monitor

What is the effect of this? Higher latency, slower speeds, both?

I am going to buy a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND Gigabit router and put dd-wrt on .. would you know if this suffers from same problem?

Thanks ..

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

high latency.

not sure about dd wrt on tp link but i got fed up with dd wrt.

go for an Asus RT-N66U and put Tomato on it. or an RT-N56U. both future proof. or Linksys highend, 4200v2 isnt supported by third party firmware though i dont think. not sure about Asus RT-N56U as well

T'internet says no - it apparently has a Ralink chipset not Broadcom so Tomato won't work.

I loved Tomato although I was maybe using an old version as it was an antique router.

This is our live graph, it seems that it isn't much worse than it has been recently

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

I just wanted to show the change in my broadband connection over the last week or two.

Here was my typical connection on 50MB XXL using firmware R30:

And now here below shows it changing over to 100MB XXL as part of a new contract upgrade, and also the firmware changing to R36 at the same time. It changed over during the red spike just before 4pm. The upstream channel ID and my IP has remained the same throughout this process. (Ignore the old firmware version in the graph title)

And ongoing it looks like this:

I didn't really notice any problems in real world usage before. Just though I would share is all.

EDIT: Forgot to say this is all in normal router mode.

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

Interesting - very good comparison. Big increase in minimum latency, similar increase in average latency, big reduction in maximum latency - most of the time.

Can I ask what DD-WRT build you're using and if you changed any settings specifically to get Ping Monitor to work?

I've even completely disabled the SPI firewall, but still nothing.

Edit: Nevermind - I just deleted the Ping Monitor graph and made another. Works fine now, probably just a bug or something.
