Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2012) Vol. 1
Seems to me BBC could do three things:
(a) carry the London local news everywhere - as they do on the News Channel when it carries 'Breakfast'
(b) switch to the News channel at least for the evening local news session
(c) have some sort of rolling teletext, as they do on World Service.
Half and hour of red screen saying nothing is insulting to viewers and is almost saying 'give us more money'.

This is most noticable in the 18:30 time slot when BBC1HD sends out a 30 slot of the RED page, why don't they use the space and time and re run someing popular?

So at least they get to see some trophies...

I don't know what it was, but it wasn't a red screen.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2012) Vol. 1
The ultimate solution would be to display a news multi screen on BBC 1 HD and let people decide what news they want to watch, then Red Button style they would be taken to a sd broadcast of their news, and returned back to BBC 1 HD at the end of the slot or by pressing the blue button, the reason i say this is because i bought my Mum a Pannasonic TV at christmas with built in Freeview HD, every time she switches to BBC 1 SD she stays on it??? The Mrs is the same, all devices with HD channels should have a facility to hide or delete SD Variants.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2012) Vol. 1
Isnt this more of a BBC issue to be discussed here:
http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/64...iscussion.html
rather than a coming soon to virgin? as virgin can only relay to its customers what is provided to them?

Not sure what we get here on BBC 1HD because I switch over to the SD channel to watch local news. On ITV1HD we get Granada news instead of Tyne-Tees which irritates me!

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2012) Vol. 1
We don't even get local news on 101 where I am. Our local news comes from the Hannington transmitter but cable companies here have always given us the Guildford version (which shows the BBC London news). We don't even get the Hannington version in the 800s either, even though we do get ITV Meridian on 870). As a result my parents have to switch to analogue BBC1 to get the local news.

Why can we have a choice of Regional news via Red Button on BBC1 HD, we have something similar for the "Late Kick Off"
