They should keep business costs down, volume users should get discounted rates etc.

However, for the casual, residential, non-business user. I.e. me. I would quite happily pay £1 a stamp.

I don't see what the issue is.

How many people post loads of letters a week nowadays?

Texts, emails, facebook etc etc.

I haven't written or posted anything since Christmas, and I'll probably only post something every few months, and I would suspect that that is true of many people.

Therefore, I say again, I would be quite happy to pay a £1 a stamp.
