I done the induction today as a BAU, there were 5 of us and 9 for the apprenticeships.
We did not do the egg task but the apprentice people did ( both teams broke their egg!), we had a second task similar to the TV show "Apprentice" where we had to choose which of four projects to spend a budget on and do a presentation about why choose that one, also why we did not choose the other three, all team members had to do a part in the presenting. The format of the day was much as posted earlier, with the end part of saying we'd hear by mid next week if successful, the apprentices will hear by august for a september start
Thanks for all the help and advice posted here, I'll keep you updated as things progress.

the supposed contact day has passed, no phone call so I'll expect the "sorry you have not been successful" letter next week

was told i had been selected on the wednesdaythe 21st from a team manager at virgin who phoned me. Was surprised cuz a didnae think a did as well as i could have for the interview and the group task. He said he would be in touch about the vetting procedure so im just waiting now

Cheers mate a just stumbled across this forum couple days ago seems an interesting site from what I see , is there any virgin techs on that could maybe tell me a bit more about the job and what virgin don't tell you? Would be good to know

Had the phone call, borderline blah blah, keep you on file....why dont they believe you when you tell them that you need a job and are prepared to work for half what you had last time....i think it's being very unfair to engineers who got laid off from well paid positions that companies think they'll run off soon as the economy recovers....makes me wonder about the loyalty of Virgin staff in the past

No mate, mainly government and defence IT, 3rd line support, networks, structured cabling, server room building etc, all secure stuff and DV cleared work

Im surprised you never got the job then to be honest with ur background, you sound a bit overqualified for it anyway (I'f there I's such a thing). I'm am electrician which is what swung it for me I think.

Overqualified is something I hear often, I'm part way towards 7671-2008 as well, have a JIB labourers card. I cant win, there are not many jobs in the bracket I usually work and no one believes I really want to work for less. Like everyone I have bills to pay...at the moment I'm doing building labouring...I'll do most things to make ends meet. I suppose that the mass "benefit" culture makes employers wary of people not from their sector, and think we're all going to run at the slightest hint of hard graft.

Not heard from virgin media since they phoned to offer me the job more than a week ago, getting worried now as i thought they would be keen to get the ball
rolling, is it normal for this kinda thing to happen ? Anyone know?
