Finale later. Enjoyed season 1 a lot more but its still good nonetheless. Always been a fan of compact seasons that stick to a solid storyline rather than procedural shows but for a change I do think I'd like a few more episodes a season to open up another plot or do something with a single character. The Deep's breakdown episode in season 1 ending with a dolphin through a windscreen was gold.
Ultimately the concept of this makes it really fun to watch. That's probably why I want a slightly longer season.

I was going to say pretty much the same thing. This is so good like GoT that you just feel like you are getting into it and it is over. I definitely feel like it needs to be a 16 episode season, it feels like we have hardly got going with the story this season and there hasn't been as much character development as there was in season 1.
As per my previous post, I'm generally not a fan of procedural shows with ludicrous amounts of boring episodes, with the exception of stand out shows like The X-Files, Fringe a few others and the exception that was '24' So The Boys fits right in with my liking for shows that progress the main story arc with each episode.
However, it's the superhero genre, that changes a lot in retrospect to the above. I absolutely believe the show could benefit from a few Character of the week (monster of the week) episodes that standalone from the 8 arc episodes. The Deep solo episode and a few other ideas to spin.
There's so much potential with this show and they're already sowing the seeds for spinoffs, prequels and everything in between.
The Nazi vought roots is an entire season in it's own right.

I agree, there is so much more story to tell and the characters are so rich that you can afford to do a few standalone eps. Plenty of other series have recently (and annoyingly) put the main story on hold to go off on a tangent and do something else. The recent seasons of The Walking Dead and The 100 come to mind. Homelander was central to the story in this season and at a convenient and climatic point I would have liked to have seen a dedicated flashback going back to his childhood to show us where it all went wrong and how he ended up being the person he is today. There is so much more they can do. I have endorsed it as a general rule of thumb and it definitely applies here, seasons needs to be 16 episodes long.

The economics of streaming don’t really support seasons of that length. US TV seasons are long partly because that’s the industry’s standard approach to filling a known number of broadcast hours. Also, beyond season 1, the advertising revenue for a given show is reasonably well known so doing the same thing, week after week, for an extended period, adds some certainty to the bottom line.
The risk of a weak season for a streamer is non-completion, and the subscriber spending their time on something else instead, thus lowering the value of the subscription in the subscriber’s estimation. Keeping seasons a manageable length eliminates the filler episodes that inevitably result from writers running out of ideas or actors needing a week off.
“The Boys” spinoff at Amazon is nearing a series order. In addition, Lizze Broadway and Jaz Sinclair have joined the ensemble cast.
The project was first announced as being in development in September. Set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (and run by Vought International), the untitled series is described as an irreverent, R-rated show that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities.
