no-ip question - hostname ip address config for static ip

i am bit confused i have opened ports in the router (superhub ac2)
and in the no-ip i have gone to hosts direct and it automatically has detected my public facing ip address ? do i leave this as it is, or do i need to change it to the local pc i.e. 192.168.0.8 etc

i have also downloaded the automatic updater which again shows the public facing ip address

i want to be able to access remotely, so any advice would be great in how to set this up

thank you

Re: no-ip question - hostname ip address config for static ip

Your No-IP client needs to use your automatically detected public IP. It doesn't have anything to do with port forwarding.

Port forwarding to whatever you want to remotely access has to be done on your router, it has nothing to do with No-IP.

I'd double check the firewall rules for whatever service you're trying to access remotely both on your router and the local device. People regularly get caught out by the fact many services are only open to the local network even if the router's port forwarding is enabled.
