Re: Whats a good wireless router to buy

Can you get wired routers cause when I search I keep getting wireless ones. Wired ones seem difficult to find. I had a linksys wireless router before and that was great.

Re: Whats a good wireless router to buy

You'll probably pay not a lot less for a wired router as opposed to a wireless one.

Remember that with wireless routers you can always disable the wireless option - that way you have it there in case you decide you want it in the future.

As for makes - I'd always choose Linksys over anything else.

Re: Whats a good wireless router to buy

Buffalo or Airport Extreme are two fine performance brands, bearing in mind the difficulty you'll have finding a non-wireless router.

My Belkin PlayMAX performs faultlessly. I've had cheaper Belkins before that didn't though.

Re: Whats a good wireless router to buy

Asus RT-N16 is pretty good. Runs DD-WRT or Tomato firmware if you wish, and you can disable the wireless easily.

Re: Whats a good wireless router to buy

Whatever router you get make sure it has gigabit ethernet with a WAN/LAN throughput of 400Mbps+. This will future-proof for 100Mb+ broadband and give you smooth HD running if you want to use a media server around your house.

I agree, 130mbit on wireless with router on ground floor and office in loft conversion.

Great for torrents and also great for internal throughput.

Re: Whats a good wireless router to buy

Another vote for teh WNDR3700. Wouldn't say the wireless range pulled up any trees, in fact it's no better than my poor old DGL4300 (RIP) so I still need a repeater to get to the other side of the house. The wireless and wired throughput is excellent though plus you also have the handy USB sharing facility for hard disks/flash/pen drives etc.

You may want to check the dates of the posts you keep replying to today, they are several years old.
