Is there a simple way of connecting Virgin incoming line to other Bt sockets?

Hi,

Our house has wired phone points to all rooms and all wire back to the BT main socket.

When we changed over to Virgin we had a virgin phone socket put next to it and now only have one phone point (in the kids bedrooom).

Its a crap place to have the answerphone as we never see it and the numerous wireless phones we have tried all have their own problems (i.e. out of range and poor batteries, etc.).

We have to have the base in the bedroom but take the phone out of the cradle at night in case anyone calls after the kids are put to bed. Then we forget to put it back and it runs out of batteries!

Does anyone know if there's a simple way of connecting the virgin phone line to all the other sockets (an adapter or something from one socket to the other) or do I need to get an Engineer in?

If an engineer is the only solution I think we will just go back to Bt.

Thank you!

IIRC you should be able to open the faces of both sockets and transfer the extension line from the BT one to the VM one. Have you had a look?

Virgin dont usually touch bt lines but is extreamly easy if you have them both next to each other.

If you open up the virgin master socket and the bt master socket you will probably have a blue and a blue white cable connected to the virgin one, simply disconnect the virgin one and attatch it to the bt socket instead (remember to remove the old bt wire)

Or the other way round, as he wants to use his old BT extensions with VM ...?

Brilliant, thanks Guys, will have a go at it tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

You are right about the Virgin Engineers, I asked ours about the extensions and he said 'I'm not touching that'!!

I'd be interested to know how you got on with this, I'll be in the same postion next week when I have Virgin installed. I'll ask the engineer if he'll swap the wires but I suspect he won't do it.
