I recorded Back to the Future 2 and 3 off Sky Movies HD and each on was 2 hrs 7mins long but took 10 hrs each on the V+, that's just not good. I wish they would enable the ports on the back so we could connect external storage.

Is Virgin Media eventually going to change to Mpeg 4 as this is part of the issue with lack of HD space for HD recording? If so what time scale can we expect them to do it in?

Yes and yet unknown on timescale, but it requires box swaps.
