Good luck, and let me know how you get on.

Which area are you going for, is it Uddingston, Renfrew or Livingston?
The wire colours shouldnt be a problem, done it often enough in the house.

No idea about the area, not fussed to be honest mate, as close to EK as possible would be nice right enough.

Applied online last week and got a call out the blue this morning, caught me out to be honest, but the questions were stuff i had to deal with everyday in my trade.

I think Uddingston would be closer to you then to be honest.

They are pretty quick at getting back in touch once you apply. It was just a few days after I applied that I had my first contact with them also, and they were fairly basic bog standard questions you have to answer initially.

During the 2nd telephone interview they will ask you to give examples of when you provided good customer service, worked as a team, how you solved a problem, dealt with a difficult or frustrated customer...those kind of things.

If you get to the assessment day you'll then have to do a 3 minute presentation, do the team building exercise and then wire up the phone sockets as a practical test.

Good luck with the phone interview, just take your time and dont panic.

When it comes to the team building, make sure you use the balloons as they are designed....the two other teams when I was there didnt, and they both failed that task. Our team were the only ones to succeed on that day.

Dont worry too much about the presentation. You'll be surprised how quickly the 3 mins go by. Main thing is to maintain eye contact with everyone and try and get it on time. I have done presentations before, so mine went well. Just do your presentation on something you can talk about with confidence for 3 mins.

Yeah, I got the job. I found out on Friday there. Found out today that I start in March. Leave the Navy on the Friday and start work with Virgin on the Monday. Happy Days!

Was asked 3 main questions, customer oriented and had to give specific examples, not a general 'in my experience i have...'

Firstly he asked, how did i here about the position?

Then the 3 main ones were,

1st was a problem solving question, when have i had to find the source of a problem, find a resolution and the outcome.

2nd was when have i had to deal with an angry/upset customer, what step did i take to resolve the situation and again, the outcome.

3rd was what did i learn from this situation.

After that he asked why i felt id be suited to this position, what can i bring to the job etc.

The interviewer himself was spot on, explains everything in detail etc.

Was then told 7 working days for a response by email, if i was successful, what documents id need for the assessment day etc

I wasnt expecting him to ask for specific situations which kinda flung me, had to just wing it basically.

If your used to doing interviews it should be fairly straight forward, that was actually only my 2nd ever interview in 20yrs, so saying im a bit rusty is an understatement.
