I am able to start paid work in the last week of March.
Ihave just done a 5 week course in Copper installs internal and external and Fibre optics

Micky, with that 5 week course under your best you must be very confident of getting through the selection process. Add to that your military background, and I would imagine you would be exactly what they would be looking for mate.

Good luck with the assessment centre phase, let us know how you get on with that mate.

Hopefully I wont bomb out on my telephone interview next week - I think the assessment centre phase would be really good.

Think it went very well. Presentation seemed to go down well. Interview went very well and we saved the egg on the team task lol

Good news. What did you do your presentation on, out of interest?

I got the call tonight to attend the Assessment day next Tuesday in Bellshill. I've got a few ideas for presentations, not decided which would be the best for this kind of scenario. I've got the weekend to practice anyway.

Hope you're successful with your selection Micky, and let me know if and when you get a start date etc.

My assessment was on Tuesday 20th and it went really well. Our team was the only one to pass the team building thing by saving the egg. Practical exercise was no problem. Presentation went really well.

All 18 of us were sent away being told we'd be contacted within a week whether we had been successful or not, and be notified of any interviews we had to attend.

Fingers crossed I get the call soon for an interview.

Got a call from VM today. I had the assessment day 10 days ago, and they have invited me back for what should be the final interview next week. Hoping it all goes well and they'll take me on.

First post, be gentle.

Any other info on these, got a 2nd interview tomorrow, being self employed the past 17 years, the problem solving/difficult customer questions should be a breeze.

How strict is the colour blind thing?

Think im slightly, but have no problems with wiring/electronics etc.

We didnt have a colour blind test to be honest. We had to wire up a master phone socket and an extension socket, and once we done that I asked when we were getting the colour blind test. He said they no longer did the colour blind test....dont know if that is just with the assessment in Bellshill or whether that is a national thing.

Was hoping that would be the case, itll be at bellshill funnily enough, if the 2nd phone interview goes well tomorrow.

Probably jumping the gun, but got a scarey flash back of being told i was slightly colour blind when i was tested in primary, which wasnt yesterday.

As long as you can differentiate between blue and blue/white and orange and orange/white wires then you'll be fine.
