Cost to change mobile number.

How much would it cost me to change my mobile number? I'm on a virgin contract.

Get a free payg sim on another network and port the number into Virgin. Very little cost.

I presume the answer is different if you are on a contract?

No, the answer is the same. You can port into Virgin at any time, doesn't matter whether its payg or contract.

Dont forget you can only port from another network, i.e. you cannot port a virgin number to virgin.

You could call Virgin on your mobile on 179 and they can help you, cost is 10p.

Re: Cost to change mobile number.

On his O2 simplicity sim card account, my lad got bombarded with premium text messages at a cost of 1.67 each, running up a bill of over 60 pounds in one evening of 9 June. They are from a number (89996 ) not on the O2 database. He claims he did nothing to warrant this. Even if he did go somewhere he should not have, surely this should not be allowed. (Replying STOP just seemed to make them come faster!)

Anyway, the next morning (fortunately I noticed online what had happened) we went in to the Mansfield O2 shop who put me on the phone to customer services. They changed his number there and then (using the same SIM card) and the texts have stopped. There was no charge but we have yet to find out if we have to pay the £60 for unasked for texts. The sympathetic lady at customer services has put in a report and we have to phone when the bill comes out next week.
