Re: This is confusing and conflicting.

Not sure what you find confusing or any information in those news items being conflicting.

The pollution we've been putting into the atmosphere (largely since the beginning of the industrial revolution) has reduced the effectiveness of the filter that shields the planet from the sun. This is leading to a general worldwide warming, particularly in areas of frozen tundra (including Alaska, Greenland and Siberia) that contain huge volumes of methane that'll further reduce the shield leading to just one of the climate change vicious circles.

'The Earth's temperature may stay roughly the same for a decade, as natural climate cycles enter a cooling phase, scientists have predicted.

The key to the new prediction is the natural cycle of ocean temperatures called the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO), which is closely related to the warm currents that bring heat from the tropics to the shores of Europe.

The cause of the oscillation is not well understood, but the cycle appears to come round about every 60 to 70 years.

It may partly explain why temperatures rose in the early years (before the industrial revolution) of the last century before beginning to cool in the 1940s (when the industrial revolution started).'
[cynical head on]
Cows fart more CO2 than man produces.

Once the current 'natural warming cycle' passes and the next ice age begins the future populus will look back and see how we were all conned into paying huge 'green taxes'.

Did you actually read the two articles?
