You should be very proud of Osem Jnr as that is a wonderful achievement by him.

Thanks Den.
The real work starts now, however, he'll be working 4 days per week in a couple of local primary schools for the next year.
Having said that he's well used to dealing with difficult children not only through his existing training but though karate, especially since he became a Sensei a few years ago. He has a reputation for not tolerating any nonsense and soon manages to get the respect of those he trains. I suppose it's introducing him to and supporting him throughout his karate career which I feel most proud of as it's made him a fine young man in my rather biased opinion...

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
So, a couple of things that I haven't been keeping you up to date with:
1. Hints dropped I'm staying beyond probation period.
2. Being trained in a specialist field, namely the kiosk in Waitrose/Morrisons stores (tobacco etc)
3. Eyesight has, despite getting worse, improved enough for me to learn to drive
4. Applied today for my provisional licence. I'm definitely nervous about this next step in life
5. Since speaking back to my manager, she has shown me lots more respect since. So all in all, a good week all round.

Just had an email from BA offering an upgrade to Premium Economy on the way out for £176 each, instead of £650 each - booked it!

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
I'm so taken aback today at the kind thoughtful things people do. I received a card today from a dear friend who is also a minister saying that they have lit a candle for me at Pershore Abbey I was in tears at this kind and yet so simple gesture.
My happy thought is that it is truly amazing that such a simple kind gesture can mean so much

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Had a nice relaxing week away on the edge of the New Forest in a lovely lodge with hot tub on the deck. I have to say it was worth it and used every day as was the indoor swimming pool. Had some nice days by the sea, caught up with some relatives and generally enjoyed watching Osem Jnr #2 loving every minute of it. It's good to be back home though...

Thanks Den it was very nice and we weren't too far from the sea. Got loads of pictures and videos of Osem Jnr #2 frolicking in the surf and having fun in the hot tub to load onto his tablet as visual reminders for when he goes off to college next week. It'd have been nice to get some video of him/us in the beautiful swimming pool but such utterly deviant practices aren't allowed anymore sadly...

Yes fond memories they will be.
With Osem Jnr # 2 off to college next week it's really dawning on us that we're going to miss him so much. Today we took him to Herne Bay and had a lovely day by the sea. The weather was great and the sea as calm and clear as I've ever seen it. He really enjoyed being in the water again. I took lots of pics and video to look back on and to put on his tablet so he can do likewise while he's away from home every week.
Had to add a little picture of he and mum having fun in the sea.

I believe that the measure of a good parent is that their children grow up with a zest for life safe in the knowledge that their parents will be there for them wherever they may be. Osem Jnr # 2 is so loved and you and your wife have given him a brilliant start.

I so hope you're right Jo. We've just tried as best we can and I have to say his stepmum has never ceased loving him and trying her best to bring him on. For that I'll always be immensely grateful and I'd like to think he is too...
