Well now I have registered an interest at both places selling it - and a delivery date (23rd March) from farnell.

I've got my 8gb sd card ready now and a blackberry charger for power

Just need to learn a little patience

When I DO get both I am going to give Peter one as he's always on about learning to program.

I did think of a bbc but I like my beeb and still use it so I wouldn't messs with it

Trouble is I'm about a practical as a whelk that's been dead for six months so the chance of me managing anything more than a lego case is not likely

I think the idea is that it's not an allsinging and all dancing game bit of equipment and the scratch programming tool is designed to help children learn programming..

I worry though that most kids will throw it in the back of a drawer purely because of it's limitations and will stick with their ps3's, iphones..etc..

Hopefully the foundation will produce the material to use with the devices and the suppliers will get the nice clear cases around them.

Then schools can have computers that can be used for coding without needing expensive software. With the interfaces they can get projects where the computer can "talk" to things and be "talked" to. They can eventually programme the pi and then have it work with the other things without being connected to keyboards, monitors and the like. Mix coding with some engineering and build something "practical".
