Diskeeper
Does anyone know if it is possible to use my copy of diskeeper to scan another 'puters HD on my home network?
I'm on XP pro and the other 'puter is on XP home, connected wirelessly via a router.

Re: Diskeeper
You could just install the copy of Disk Keeper on the other PC locally and shedule it to run every so often.

Re: Diskeeper
if u buy your self a licence for each pc go for it - id just settle for the built in defrag
if u use the server version u can push out diskkeeper installs to the other boxes.
not cheap.

Re: Diskeeper
You need the corperate version of diskkeeper to defrag another workstation. You run the remote install and it will then install the client on the selected machine.
This setup is normaly only used in a corperate invironment so I cant see that this will work for you.... Unless you are loaded and have the full version of diskkeeper

Re: Diskeeper
All I have is the 'pro' version and I'm not forking out for the corporate version (or whatever it's called)
Do you think I would have a problem with it if I just copied my copy to the other 'puter?

It's a bit off really, I own both 'puters....why should I pay twice for the same software? I don't have to with my games....as long as I have the disks I can play my games on any pc I choose to.

Nah, don't think so. Go for it
For the record I probably would not fork out for another copy of DK either unless I was loaded. I hate all this licensing crap - its just stupid and is there to make more money for the software companies. After all, you wouldn't pay for 2 copies of the same CD if you wanted to play it in the car and at home.

I see your point but I am hardly a 'corporate' user. I'm naffed off enough that I had to pay extra for the 'professional' version

Microsofts old EULA allowed software to be loaded on two PCs your home and office PC - as long as both were not in use at once.
Just don't diskkeep more than one PC at once!
Digiguide has nice licencing. Your personal licence can be loaded on 3 PCs at any one time.

The current Microsoft EULA looks like it allows Office software (not the OS) to be loaded concurrently on a Desktop and Laptop as long as they are both yours.
This is when I find out the the Office SBE that i just bought with my Dell Laptop is OEM and not subjet to the same EULA so I cannot install it on my desktop!
EDIT - Dell have just told me that the only OEM software they now sell is the OS, so I have a full version Yay.
