Wow, thats impressive. These satellite bandwidth problems I've been hearing about seem like pure scare mongering - 4K broadcast would need a huge amount of bandwidth.
The only problem is a 4K projector is currently around £16,000!

Or maybe their trying to be at the forefront of pay TV innovation , something they've done with both HD and 3D , not playing catch up like other firms.

The question is how much of a step improvement it will be and the answer to that is minimal but Sky will advertise it as some great new coming one suspects.

The improvements that 4K will bring are huge Den!
The jump from our current 720p broadcasts will be massive (much more than SD to HD)

Who's playing catch up? Didn't Telewest launch the first residential HD service and didn't Virgin launch the first residential 3D service in UK pay TV homes?

Yes they did , they had trials of ITV HD and BBC HD with some HD On Demand , they're well and truly playing catchup with HD and 3D now though aren't they.
