Yes. That's what Tivo does. And the V+ (and Sky+, etc.)

I know that. I respect that. I just don't get it and never will.
How is
"Change Channel + Start Recording"
not better than (nor much different to)
"Change channel"

No they don't. You're confusing "changing a background tuner to a channel to record something" with "tuning to a live channel and watching it live".

You don't need to "get it". It's not something you'll use. Having the functionality won't affect you. Other people using it won't affect you. Why do you need to "get" why other people want to do something, other than just for the sake of arguing?

See above. You seem to be defining "switching a background tuner to a channel to record something" with "changing channel". They're not the same thing. You've had this explained to you more than once, and yet each time this thread gets bumped you conveniently forget.

Re: Reminders on TiVo
And, as soon as something starts recording - on whichever tuner - it can be watched from "My Shows". So the tuner it is recorded from it completely irrelevant.

Re: Reminders on TiVo
And as has been said multiple times, we're not talking about recording a programme and manually going into "My Shows" and watching it as it records. We're talking about automatically changing the channel you're watching to the one you want to watch at the time the programme starts, without recording, so you don't have to manually do anything.

That's not what Tivo does. The comparison is:
"Start Recording in background" v "Change Channel".
There are many reasons why someone would want to watch a TV programme as it airs. A reminder feature would be helpful in those instances.
