Re: New content for Virgin Media
I am looking forward to hearing the details relating to content on the new Apple SVOD service launching soon.
I notice that they plan to be a super-aggregator of content. I wonder if this will deter Virgin Media from adding this service to their platform. I hope not, but the lack of Amazon on the platform so far does indicate a certain amount of resistance to the idea.
It doesn't look as though Disney+ will carry that disadvantage (at least from what we know so far) and so hopefully we will get that from launch.
If we end up with Amazon, Apple and Disney +, I shall be a very happy bunny!

It's more likely to be the pricing model - at the moment, Amazon get the money directly - if they re-sell (through any model), the re-seller will have a slice, and they can't put the price up, as why would anyone pay more for a service you can get cheaper directly.

Re: New content for Virgin Media
I think the Apple Event may be a little bit of a letdown for UK users and primarily focused on its consumers in the US.

Until Sky bundled Netflix with their box sets and offered a discount, Virgin Media accepted that subscribers would continue to pay directly to Netflix.
As far as discounts are concerned, surely bundling together of streaming services at a cheaper price overall is the answer.
I'm not sure whether BT requires you to pay Amazon directly or whether payment can be made together with other services on BT. It would be interesting to know.
As I have said before there is another advantage of bringing together all your streaming services, and that is the ability to search and bookmark all your programmes on just one box.

Yes, you could be right there, but it will be interesting to see what is on offer.

Re: New content for Virgin Media
Though I have no interest in subscribing to Apple TV, I would like to see the series based on Isaac Asimov's Foundation books. Though I think it may be tough to do it justice given the time scales involved.

Of course it will be painted as some great coming that is going to pose a existential threat to the pay TV companies but that type of thinking is imaginary in the extreme.

Re: New content for Virgin Media
More information on the Apple SVOD streaming service here. I suspect that many of the channels shown in the picture are for US viewers only. It will be interesting to see how much of it finds its way to the UK.

Re: New content for Virgin Media
TUBI is launching in the UK next year. It will be a free service, supported by advertising. I would expect this service to be made available on VM's platform if they are serious about being a 'super aggregator of content'.

I agree, but if any platform that wishes to be seen as an aggregator wants to be taken seriously, they need to actually produce the goods. Otherwise punters will simply go for Roku or Amazon Fire instead.

Re: New content for Virgin Media
This should please those who wonder how they aregoing to pay for all these new streaming services. It's free, but with ads.
Maybe Virgin will launch it next year, although the content is of little interest to me.
