Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
Hi All. New to this forum as joining Virgin the from the other side, saw this thread on the V6 box and thought I'd comment
We have an install on Thursday (03/11/16) received email last night, saying we'll be one of the first to experience the new V6 Box, lots of waffle about it won't look like the box on website (assume referring to normal Tivo box) then going on about how good it'll be with 4K Netflix & YouTube, not much more info than that.
More updates on Thursday when installed.

Sounds like you've answered my question as to whether they'll be giving new customers a new box or try to pass off one of their old crappy ones onto them.

Sky are obviously watching this closely and with everything the Murdoch's do, they come out fighting, ie Sky Q prices has been slashed in half.

So if this is a new install does that mean no additional price the same price as before? It reads like this?

That wasn't true of the original Tivo; current subscribers, for a limited time, got priority.

So, it looks like the current state of play is that new customers are being looked after, whilst existing customers are treated with contempt.
You'd think they'd have the sense to issue them to customers who can no longer tolerate the old box. Some have been customers for over 20 years and VM have effectively just shrugged their shoulders (they did this to me after 17 years).
Its cheaper to keep an existing customer as opposed to touting for a new one; they really don't have a clue.

Why couldn't your VM friend get you one? From what I hear, there's more than one person on this forum with a V6 box.
