That's never even been suggested. We're talking same sex civil marriages, as per the thread title and poll wording.

Why can't the Catholic (and other churches) do more to campain against human rights abuses and wealth inequality?

You whats ironic, the gay anthem Y.M.C.A is about thr Young Mens CHRISTIAN Association!
So Christains can say what they like about Gays, but their relgion is not 100% not associated with gays!

re: [MERGED] Poll: Same Sex civil marriages, yes or no.
Please remember guys that this is about same sex marriages and nothing to do with religion in general (apart from a few specific reports linking to the subject), please stay on topic.

I don't think there are more rights with marriage. It's just that people object to not being allowed to call their partnership marriage.

If there's no difference, why call it something else?
If there is a difference, why should there be?

That's the whole point..
Civil partnerships were brought in to appease those against gay marriage and even since then a lot of viewpoints have changed..

re: [MERGED] Poll: Same Sex civil marriages, yes or no.
Is there not an issue with the current proposals though that "religious groups" will not be allowed to refuse to marry homosexual couples? Or at least the C of E as the state church won't.
Our church group would not marry homosexuals as we believe that such a relationship is not something God approves of. (Can we leave this as read else this topic will get out of hand very quickly?)
We support the legal definition of marriage which is the voluntary union for life of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others. C4M - Coalition for Marriage

No, there isn't. This is about civil marriage only. Religious marriage is not affected, though religious institutions could opt to marry same-sex couples if they wish to do so.

Have you any idea how intolerant and narrow minded you come across as when you say that?
Granted his view is not a popular one but it is NOT your right to say his or anyone elses' view is 'wrong'.
Having that attitude makes you come across just as narrow minded and intolerant as he does.

I have been a bit harsh, but I feel that based religious fact that the claim "being gay is a sin" and "god hates gays" and "god is against gay marriage" is not as clear cut as that!
There is a lot of evidence that Religion have nothing against Homosexuality!
Remember that the Young Men's Christian Association has strong links to gay cuulture even though is a "Christian" organsation!
