Re: The Great 0845 Rip off.
Well when I complained about 0845 etc numbers I was offered and accepted £1.50 per month charge for unlimited calls to 08 numbers, however it does not include 0844

I was offered a 0870 package (for a fee) when I phoned to give notice to cancel my phone service but that was the first time they have ever offered me it which seems a shame.

Normally I just want to dial a number. Going to the computer, waiting for it to load and then to "saynoto0875" is not a sensible option.
I'm all for 18185 OR if the computer is necessary (number not accepted by 18185) what's wrong with Skype?

Re: The Great 0845 Rip off.
Virgin charge you for 0845 and 0870 calls while BT dont.... BUT... literally the minute BT began giving you free calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers.... everyone changes their numbers to 0871 and 0844 which are chargeable.... Its just a game of cat and mouse.
The BEST resolution for this is to visit a site like www.0870alternative.com
I have found this site easy to use and exceptional when searching for alternative numbers. They seem to have 0870, 0845 and 0844 and 0871 alternative numbers. I have even found 090 numbers on there which are the £1+ per minute premium numbers.
Also, the site is free to use and means that you can save a fortune...... I use to get wound up by being kept on hold being told how important my call was.... whilst paying for every minute I was hanging on and with calls sometimes at 35p..... was costing a fortune...

I agree as soon as 0870/0845 numbers become included by BT the chargeable numbers changed i always use sayno to 0870 or alternatively search the net for 0800 numbers like i use when i contact my energy supplier,or just plain old geographic numbers.

Register with www.18185.co.uk and route your calls through them. Much cheaper than VM's standard rates. You just have to dial an 0800 number, wait for the announcement to start and then key the full number you want to call. Easy. Calls within the UK:
p/min
UK Fixed 1
UK mobiles (sat/sun) 6
UK mobiles (weekdays) 10
0845 Local (sat/sun) 3
0845 Local (weekdays) 3
0870 National (sat/sun) 1
0870 National (weekdays) 3
070 Personal 25
Why do we need to do this to stop the VM rip off ? Although it does confirm VM is ripping off its customers again..................allways thought it was a **** take to offer new customers a better deal than existing customers. Time to move methinks.......kind regards

or you could try saynoto0870.com for the geographical numbers.

Re: The Great 0845 Rip off.
As far as I know the Talk 08 services are currently being trialled with some customers, it's not yet available for all yet
So you can't currently just ask for them

And now it is
From today, customers can get a 'Home Phone Review' which will mean Virgin will review their prior call history, and suggest the appropriate add ons
