ITV HD and 5.1 sound - When?
I find it very dissapointing that the only way I can get surround sound for films and football on ITV is via pro logic or some other pseudo surround option. When are they going to do full 5.1 like the other HD channels?

As far as I know (and am sure spiderplant or someone will correct me) but they have started rolling this out region by region.
Am in the STV area and get some programmes on the HD channel in 5.1 (not many though)

I'm in West Sussex and ITV1 HD is not in Dolby at all, let alone 5.1. It is 2 channel aac.

This rollout seems to have regressed, a few months ago the Granada region went Dolby Digital and we all expected 5.1 audio to follow, but the last time i checked it seemed to have switched back to PCM (on virgin anyhow), On freesat HD i think it has always been DD+ 2.0.

Obviously far more important to them to change their logos and rename ITV1 to ITV than to actually deliver the technical goods. Marketing over what matters.

itv have been trialling HD broadcasts since the Crystal Palace transmitter was upgraded, many many years ago, the fact they havn't sorted 5.1 sound yet on any platform proves they don't give a stuff about it.
