Helix put on hiatus by Channel 5
I cannot believe they have done this. I was really enjoying the series, now they have put it on hiatus only to return in SD on 5*
WTF are they playing at? Apparently it was due to low ratings, but what do they expect when they shift the last episode to midnight! i will never watch a channel 5 show again.

Re: Helix put on hiatus by Channel 5- FURIOUS!!
The ratings were already dropping before it was dumped to a midnight slot before the 5* shift.
This is as to be expected from Five, sadly, when it comes to US TV.
Five has already ditched Once Upon a Time and Justified completely, and has yet to confirm *if* it will even show the next season of Sons of Anarchy, let alone when (& by "next" I mean the one that finished in the US last year...).
Go back a few years, of course, and you also have the poor treatment of Breaking Bad and other shows.

Same here.
While there are a few US shows that do get treated properly (e.g. Game of Thrones on Sky Atlantic, The Walking Dead on Fox), so many are still screwed around with... Some don't get shown at all, or are shown months and months late... While others are initially treated OK but then dumped quickly if they don't become an immediate smash hit.

True, although the American channels don't actually help much. They seem to be increasingly postponing shows for longer and longer periods. Take the situation recently. I watch several US timeline shows, and most of them came off the air for nearly a month over christmas and they've all been postponed over the last three or four weeks for the Winter Olympics. So, out of the last three months, they've been on for one of them.
Unfortunately, this means that the UK channels showing these have to wait as well, and, IMO, waiting puts a lot of viewers off.

Re: Helix put on hiatus by Channel 5- FURIOUS!!
A Christmas / New Year hiatus is normal. The only abnormal hiatus this season was for the Olympics.
I agree it puts UK viewers off, though. We're not used to it like people are in the US.
Showing US shows here soon after their US broadcast is OK for cable shows such as Game of Thrones, as they have uninterrupted runs. It becomes a problem though for network shows because of the hiatuses plus the off again / on again broadcasts through the season.
