Angry Help with Thomson ST585v6 config.

Hello people!

I know you have seen this kind of problem before on these forums... but I have been unable to find a thread discussing my router, so here goes...

I need to find a way of controlling or restricting the bandwidth my roomate can use. Or to find a way to prioritize my computer. He keeps downloading some dumb japanese toons and music all day long. I need internet to work on my assignments, and this is really starting to get on my nerves.

My router is a Thomson ST585v6. I am directly conneted to it through ethernet port and he is using wireless.

So My router is:
Thomson Speedtouch ST585v6
Serial Number: CP0735KT06N
Software Release: 6.2.15.5

I have accessed the router settings page (had to call the company to get the default user and password) but now that I am inside, I cant find a way to do what I need. If my router is incabable of doing so, is there any software that may be able to help me? Installing somehting in his computer is out of question, of course.

An additional question: What does "assigning a game or application" does? Makes the game or applicationĀ“s performance better?

Thanks in advance guys.

Yes. Thanks Vanman, but I was already reading the manual when I post this thread.

The problem is that I am not an expert in this, and technical language is really killing me here. I will continue to read the manual, though.

In the meantime... if anyone knows of a solution or has already read the manual and understands it better than me, please comment.

Re: Help with Thomson ST585v6 config.

well what you can do is disconnect the router
and plug the ethernet cable from the modem straight into your computer
you will have all the bandwidth he will have none.

He pays for half the bill.. I just want us to have the same ammount of bandwidth... hes using way more than just half.
