Re: Litter Fines

A simple solution really isn't it, and if people actually did, the country world look a hell of a lot tidier and save shedloads in council tax money (That we all have to pay) to clean up.

Don't litter, don't get fined, happy days. Well, aside from Denbighshire which seems to have severe issues actually collecting the fines it seems!

Re: Litter Fines

Denbighshire covers Rhyl. A town that would benefit from being bombed and rebuilt.

Re: Litter Fines

I've always said councils should introduce the cracks in the pavement and the fining of people for walking on them.

they'd make millions.

then we could have a few more like talking too loud whilst out on the street. and for just being on the street in the first place.

I doubt they'd collect as the bears would have jumped out and got the malefactors first.

Re: Litter Fines

Wish they would enforce it where i live on a main road opposite a school we have to clean our front out everyday between litter thrrown out of cars and the litter the kids throw leaving school. We have the street cleaners once in a blue moon and a couple of pcso's thats the extent of officialdom we see despite numerous complaints from many residents we're told that the money isn't there.

Re: Litter Fines

When you are awarded the yellow card. do you stand there and read it. and fold it into a nice little square to put in your pocket (do you notice people never put them in their pocket. they stand there reading the things and say things like this is really interesting and stuff?) and keep saying thanks very much. as if you've won a prize?

Re: Litter Fines

Better would be to ask folk to pick it up and issue fine if not done so but I guess that does involve effort and maybe some risk, not collecting the money and would put the cleaners out of work.

For my aunt catching the fly tippers would be a great help and having a fine substantial enough to make it a real deterrent. It would have to be many times the cost of legal disposal.
