I'm also reasonably sure that when the DMZ was being used, it then would'nt respond to the pings from the TBB ping monitor.

I always used to do a full reboot after any changes just to make sure.

In all fairness my current Sky router behaves in much the same way.
I've had some similar strange effects with port forward too. I discovered that the ICMP got forwarded to the machine also. Discovered this because when I pinged my IP from work I got a TTL of 119 rather than 55. (my machine TTL is 128. Also when I disconnected the machine that was the subject of the port forward I lost the WAN side echo.

I can't replicate it though.

That's it - thanks. Had 5 port forwarding rules set up, knocked them off, rebooted and it's responding fine to a ping from t'internet.

Eldest will have a fit 'cos he runs a minecraft server

cheers

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

That's been around for ages and was reported in a firmware trial forum back in the day when I had a shub. There has been at least one new firmware since then (the WiFi driver bug) and now a new trial but I don't see that bug mentioned as one they'll fix. I've never seen any other router have a bug in this area either.

To save your eldest's sanity there is a work round. Specify a particular protocol type rather than both. If you need both TCP and UDP than use two rules.

Cheers, I'll give that a try. Got a WRT160 in the loft. This is the first issue I've had with the shub and I'm trying to cut down on wires and power bricks!

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

My connection seems to be on a slippery slope now the graphics are getting steadily worse

2nd of may:

Yesterday (sunday):

The brief step down in minimum latency after 4pm was me rebooting the superhub as my connection was struggling to hit 40Mb. It's hitting 63Mb now but my pings are not as good as they were (50ms in some cases instead of 9ms to London).

When they add extra upload channels I hope it improves, but if not, I will seriously consider infinity.
