I didn't say they would. However, if they did, VM would have to pass on any additional charge made for 4K to their customers.
This is why Virgin need to get back in the content game, so they can compete with Sky on more equal terms.

Staff trials were at the end of 2010 and the first customers got them in early 2011

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
It would take billions to compete with BT and Sky if they wanted to get back into the content game and somehow l don't think Virgin will be going down that route anytime soon.

It was never communicated by VM that it would part of their version of TiVo as far as I'm aware. I certainly don't remember ever seeing it, and I've had TiVo since the TiVo 500.

Sadly, UK content wouldn't have allowed that anyway.
It will be interesting how much content will be allowed to be streamed to tablets on the new Tivo. MRS on the current Tivo is extremely limited, so much so that it's almost useless. Again, probably down to content providers restricting, or wanting extra money for the privilege.

With Sky Q all channels and recordings can be streamed between boxes and to tablets in the home. I think certain content from certain channels isn't allowed to be downloaded to watch on the move though.

The bar has been set then.
MRS should have been the same. Whether content providers have softened their stance on this recently or Sky have more clout with content providers (or prepared to pay them more money) will be interesting to see when the new Tivo is released.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
Irish TV 'In talks' to launch on Virgin Media.
The independent in Ireland is reporting that Virgin Media are in talks with Irish TV to appear on the company's media platform.
But We do not know if Irish TV will appear just on Virgin Media Ireland or also added on Virgin Media UK as well.

The problem is, content is king, and without content, Virgin will continue to get left behind and the gap will widen.
However, whether or not they should participate in Premier League bidding, that is a different matter. Sports rights have got totally out of hand.

That's certainly what their advertising states. After my own dismal experience networking my TiVos that's a compelling reason to consider switching.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
I thought most (or all) channels can be streamed with MRS now?
BBC and ITV both work as I have used them today.

You are correct.
Here's a copy of the original press release (thank you, Horizon and CF - old VM press releases seem to have been lost in the LGI takeover)

Well I'm just going to wait for streaming options on new TiVo as the pairing thing is annoying and hopefully you can stream to new boxes via wifi
