152 > 200MB Upgrade - Which SH?
I currently have 152MB service but have chosen to update to the new 'Vivid' 200MB offering.
As I currently have a SH 1, i apparently now require a new/different SH.
Can you tell me which one I will get and also, will I be able to use it in MODEM mode as I currently do with my SH 1?
Thanks.

That's great, thanks.
I use an Asus RT-AC88U as my router and it is really good, so didn't want to compromise.

Ken is correct. Shub 1 and shub2 are both 8 channel modems and are good for 400mbits so in theory you would actually be ok keeping your current shub. The only reason why they would want you to have a new one is if there was a concern around congestion and they want you have a shub3 so you can load balance across more channels (16)/

Oh I don't think I'll ever get this speed upgrade, it's been put back 5 times already

Re: 152 > 200MB Upgrade - Which SH?
I have bit-the-bullet and placed the order. SH to be delivered 1st July. As far as to which SH I get, I won't know until it arrives. As long as it has MODEM mode capabilities, I will be happy.
I will report back.

Re: 152 > 200MB Upgrade - Which SH?
Just had an email from VM. Notes on the order it does state Super Hub 3, so I guess that's what I will get.
I have tried to search for a manual for the SH 3 but failed miserably. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Re: 152 > 200MB Upgrade - Which SH?
Thanks very much. Just what I was after. My search did lead me to a page very similar, but didn't mention MODEM mode, which is what I was really after.
Thanks again.

Re: 152 > 200MB Upgrade - Which SH?
The SH1 was perfectly capable of 200Mbps in modem mode - there was some sort of trial boost last year and it worked well for me! There's a policy decision not to support upgrades over 100Mbps with the SH1, presumably because of its useless wireless and router mode, and to update the network with 16 channel devices. Good luck with the SH3, fingers crossed you are not in an area they don't work reliably in modem mode!

Thanks for the reply.
One thing you said in your last sentence worries me a little. Why would running in Modem mode successfully be area specific?

Re: 152 > 200MB Upgrade - Which SH?
In some areas, depending on the CMTS you get connected to, the Hub 3 is known to "flap". It disconnects and reconnects every 36 minutes in Modem Mode. The "fix" is to reboot which sorts it for a while, or get a SH2ac, or use Router Mode.
There are many threads on the VM Community Forum about this.
I've a Hub 3 in Modem Mode and don't have any issues with it whatsoever. The uptime can be measured in 100's of days as I, luckily, don't need to reboot.

Re: 152 > 200MB Upgrade - Which SH?
Here's hoping!
I hope I don't come to regret my decision to 'upgrade', my SH1 has been rock solid for years.
Until the new unit is fitted (lets hope the order info was wrong and I get a SH2ac), I won't know.
FWIW, I am located in South Manchester fed from the Baguley unit. Is that good news or bad? lol

Re: 152 > 200MB Upgrade - Which SH?
To cap my question off.
Turns out even though the order email states a SH 3 wound be delivered, it turns out that I actually got a SH2ac so I am 'well chuffed'.
