Re: US Election 2016

It's a little bit rich when the DNC complain that Russia is trying fix the election, when it's quite evident that the US mainstream media already have that in hand.

Trump is doing all this himself. The press is right to uncover these stories. I mean Fox News are even struggling to help him. Maybe in some parts of America the stuff he said is fair but largely it's not and the media reflect that.

Nothing more inspiring than a potential Commander in Chief who refuses to listen to intelligence reports on things he may not like.

I disagree. Mainstream Media in the US is really behaving bad here. I mean these women suddenly coming forward less than a month before the Election and they have had all the time in the World to come forward, why wait now? One of the accusers has been allegedly routed out as one of Hillary's friend and donor. If indeed these so called allegations are true, which I don't think they are at ALL.

Despite all the crap being thrown at Trump, I would not write him off. He has almost twice as many facebook followers than Hillary has and most of my American friends are voting for him, they cannot stand Hillary to be President, with them suggesting, she is, as 'bent' as they come. Trump is no Angel either, they know that but they want to rock the establishment and Hillary already is and has been a part of that for a number of years already.

The Democrats can see the video from 11 years ago has had zero impact on Trumps popularity. So, just you watch it, we're a few days away from the next and final debate. Just watch more nasty and made up BS come out for either candidate.

With the crap we had to put up with with our Brexit referendum and the US Elections, this year has been a load of bollocks for democracy.

Re: US Election 2016

I hope trump wins, why should we be the only ones being laughed at for brexit. I can actually see him winning to, the parallels between this and our referendum vote are striking for me plus I bet a lot of people vote for the donald when they told their friends and pollsters they wouldn't

They've presumably come forward because of the tape. I think the media have only done a bad job in the sense a lot of this stuff about his taxes, his treatment of women and so on should have come up in the primaries but they treated him as a showman and didn't do their jobs.

Clinton by comparison has been at the top of politics for 20 years. First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State so she has been rather heavily vetted already.

It's probably not the end of it. Trump is 70 years old and has not had his background looked at that closely. The media didn't do their jobs in the primaries and nor did his Republican rivals (what the hell they were doing is a valid question too) but now everyone is looking at everything.

By the way Trump banned his campaign from doing their own opposition research into him. If they had then they would be better prepared.

OK but it's harder for him to make a convincing denial when there is a tape of him bragging of that kind of behaviour.

Corbyn has more Facebook friends than the entirety of the Tory Party. All of Twitter loved Miliband. I would trust polling numbers, fallible as they are, over internet followers.

Besides Trump is a made-for-internet candidate. He loves insulting people, he speaks in quips, goes on about women, muslims and minorities. His campaign is the living embodiment of a Internet comments section.

It really has had an impact. The first debate is when things started going bad for him but the video sent the campaign tumbling. His main hope is probably something big comes up against Clinton but that's harder to achieve given how long she has been around. It would have to be a deadly Wikileaks e-mail or she collapses or something.

Look at the polling average here: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epo...nton-5491.html

It's a big drop

Well I will watch it. If the last year has told us anything it's that surprises can happen. However I think he needs a game changer and I don't know what that would be.

---------- Post added at 18:06 ---------- Previous post was at 18:05 ----------

BTW Trump is currently on a Tweet rant again. Saying the election is rigged. Look more and more like he won't concede should he lose. This could get nasty.

Re: US Election 2016

How can it be rigged? Each state runs their own election systems, not the Federal government, and 23 of the States are run by Republican Governors and have Republican majorities in the State Senates and the State Houses, and 20 have shared control between Republicans and Democrats.

He presumably knows that (maybe not) but he assumes, maybe rightly, that his supporters don't know.

I think he is becoming quite dangerous now. His rallies are full of very angry people. He is telling them the election is rigged and to go to polling stations to make sure it's not.

Angry people aren't renowned for making the best decisions in any given situation.

True, but it's best not to ignore them either.

If Clinton wins, and it's likely she will, she best be careful because the next trump or worse is out there and they will find an audience.

Agree entirely. Best to try and demonstrate to them why they are being sold BS to keep them angry.

Yes. We're lucky (probably) that Trump is not talented enough, has a lot of baggage and maybe even unbalanced. If he does lose he has proved there is an audience other there who can be reached and a more talented and calculating person might be able to exploit it.

The Republicans will also have to sort themselves out. They've fanned these flames as well. It's only now a few of them seem terrified albeit they've never liked him. Romney to his credit spoke out early.
