Turned off ZA
My download speeds have been crap since the upgrade to 4MB...
Turning off ZA isn't enough, you must uninstall it to get your speeds up.

Glad you got it sorted.

It should be pinned telling people to uninstall ZA.

Read my post #14 and install Kerio as a substitute.

Re: 10mb, i dont think so....

I'm a new on this forum but an old customer of NTL broadband. Very recently I've got my speed upgraded to 10meg from 4meg and also got an engineer to come out to replace my modem 200 to 250, yes the shiny blue ones. But ! ! ! the speed is slow, well slower then before. Can somebody please help ME ! ! in this matter??

I use a Netgear router.

Re: 10mb, i dont think so....

I have just had 10mb installed in my new property, I got the account transfered over.

At my old property i got 10mb but here i am only getting a maximum of 4.5mb .

This is yet another blow, I have been trying for 3 weeks to get ntl to come and install it at this property, each time they have fobbed me off and not given me an install date, My bf was on the phone to them today and demanded them to come and fit it, Within 3 hours they were here but now i ma getting this crappy service speeds.

Why wont NTL learn how to deliver a reliable service.

Try connecting direct to the modem.

Re: 10mb, i dont think so....

^ I've tried connecting directly to the modem but the speed its still the same.

I've seen that the speed is fast with mozilla browser but not topping the speed to 10meg.

OK that takes your modem from the equation.

Http is not a good guage for determining connection speed as you have to go through a transparent proxy which will probably be underperforming.
Try changing proxies for slow browsing issues.

Try an FTP or NNTP download from a known 10meg caperble source to more accurately determine your download speed.

For both Http and NNTP, use a client that enables multiple connections to the same source.
This is necessary because in many instances Ntl's peering is pants and although you may have a 10meg caperble conn on Ntl's network, once you go outside you may be down to, as low as, 300meg in some cases at some times.

Re: 10mb, i dont think so....

A lot of replies, well its connected directly to a router and has been for years via ethernet.. ZA is not installed on the PC

For the sake of another £50 on top of the monthly sub, my folks are going to wait until december when BE is enabled on our exchange, or i could move them to another adsl package away from NTL.
