German newspaper Bild lists the "ailments" that afflict Britons abroad, including a tendency to drink too much and strip off at the slightest opportunity

The Germans are nothing if not perceptive.

If it's anything to do with this poll then there's no need to wonder, it's included in it, of course though it doesn't sell bild and telegraph papers if they put on it that they thought the british were polite and well mannered

The wife's just come back from 2 weeks in Rhodes staying at a hotel mostly occupied by Russians and Germans. She couldn't believe how noisy, arrogant and rude many of the Germans were, especially towards the local waiting staff and the E. European guests.

As for all this anti-English carp, given that English tourists tend to vastly outnumber the rest of those form the UK it's not too hard to see why they'd be more identifiable in the various resorts which suffer problems of drunken behaviour etc. I've come across plenty of drunken, obnoxious Scots, Irish and Welsh in my time so let's not pretend the English have the monopoly this sort of behaviour eh.

The article specifies Britons rather than Englishmen.

Just been to Morocco/Agadir - Surprisingly the British were liked the most by the Hotel/Entertainment staff. The Russians were disliked the most as a Moroccan bar man called them pigs of the earth!.

There was a fair mixture of nationalities, mainly ignorant French, the Belgiums were ok.. as for the Germans arrogant must be in their make-up.

Means nothing to me if towels are on an empty sunbed, much to my wife's discomfort. The hotels should regularly remove the offending articles.
