coroner rule water authority responsible for the UK's worst mass water poisoning

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-17367243

Think its very worrying situation hope it never happens again should there be better safeguard to prevent mistakes. Coroner of Carole cross ruled water authority gambled with as many 20,000 peoples lives. How many more cornwall residents from 1988 period got accessive aluminium in the brain through this even died without knowledge to this. The water authority accidently put aluminium sulphate into the wrong treatment.

this is going to cause many litergations I feel especially reading the following.

Quote:
Despite being inundated with nearly 1,000 complaints, the then South West Water Authority (SWWA) insisted the water was safe to drink and advised customers to disguise the "foul" taste by mixing it with orange juice to make it more palatable.

This happened in 1988. It's not news - just that the inquest into the death of someone who lived there at the time has given a coroner, and the media, another chance to (quite rightly) give the water authority a good kicking.

By 1997 said authority had already paid out in excess of half a million in compensation. I'm not sure how much more is likely to follow at this late stage.

Re: coroner rule water authority responsible for the UK's worst mass water poisoning

Yes I was aware but felt it worth posting considering maggy having good kicking on water authorities in private sector

sounds like one hell shocking state of affairs from the serving government threatening removal legal aid for those not happy to bullying to accept weak and low compensation.

I would think this coroner might start new wave of war especially the ruling of the cause death. I would love honest lawyer come out fight it for free challenge the compensations was opressed onto residents. It would be nice those got fairer correct level compensation.

Looking this water authority got away pretty much lightly even the fine for the risks to health is criminally light.
